Synopsis: In the summer of 1997, Sadie’s girlfriend Grace dies unexpectedly. When Grace’s conservative family takes custody of the body, Sadie enlists her friends Rachel and Lena to help steal it from a county morgue. In a beat-up Jeep with a trunk full of ice, the three women drive through the California desert in search of an illegal cremation. Over the course of twenty-four hours, See You in the Morning unfolds across gas stations, diners, and strange desert towns, where the air feels heavy and time stretches thin. As the women navigate the absurd logistics of death, what emerges is a portrait of friendship shaped by rage, love, and the refusal to let someone disappear quietly. Part road film, part lo-fi heist, it’s a story about a final act of care that does not ask for permission.
