About the Role
Each employee at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee helps extend the agency's mission in particular ways, as outlined in the position description. The essential functions of the position include but are not limited to the following:
The Donor Engagement Manager plays a critical role in advancing Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee's fundraising efforts by cultivating meaningful relationships with mid-level donors ($500-$2,500) and developing strategic partnerships across our 8-county service area. This position combines hands-on donor stewardship with deepening impact partnerships, requiring someone who thrives on building authentic connections with individual donors and corporate partners while actively engaging with professional networks to identify new opportunities for partnership development. The successful candidate will manage their own donor portfolio, secure event sponsorships, all while maintaining meticulous CRM documentation, reporting to the Director of Development and working closely with the VP of Development to achieve ambitious fundraising goals.

Day-to-day:
Donor Portfolio Management (35%) • Manage personal caseload of mid-level donors ($500-$2,500) • Conduct donor identification and prospect research • Develop and implement cultivation strategies for individual, corporate, and foundation prospects • Create personalized stewardship plans for donor retention and upgrade • Schedule and conduct donor meetings and site visits
Partnership & Chamber Relations (25%) • Build and maintain relationships with professional organizations such as Chamber of Commerces’ across 8 counties • Attend networking events and community functions • Identify new partnership opportunities • Cultivate corporate partnerships and sponsorship prospects • Represent organization at community events
CRM Documentation & Reporting (10%) • Maintain accurate donor records and interaction logs in CRM system • Track donor engagement metrics and relationship progression • Document all relationship activities and follow-up actions • Ensure data integrity and timely record updates
Event Support & Sponsorships (25%) • Secure event sponsorships from corporate and individual prospects • Support major fundraising events through sponsor cultivation • Coordinate sponsor recognition and stewardship activities • Assist with event logistics as needed
Administrative & Team Collaboration (5%) • Participate in development team meetings and strategic planning • Collaborate with recruitment team on partnership stewardship/development• Support agency-wide development initiatives • Complete administrative tasks and reporting as assigned
Organizational Alignment • Demonstrate agency values in your actions, decisions, and interactions • Assist with agency priorities centered on resource development (relationships, resources, tools) • Support and attend agency functions, both advancement-specific and broader agency events
About You
This Job May Be For You • Proven experience managing donor portfolios with demonstrated results • Track record of securing corporate sponsorships and partnerships • Evidence of donor retention and any upgrade successes • Experience with CRM systems and donor database management • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills • Comfortable with public speaking and presentations • Excellent organizational and time management abilities • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills • Willingness to travel to and within the 8 counties we serve (Davidson, Sumner, Cheatham, Rutherford, Robertson, Dickson, Williamson and Wilson) and work flexible hours including evenings and weekends when necessary and attend/participate in all agency events • Team player with collaborative work style
Candidates Must Demonstrate: • Donor Portfolio Management: Size of portfolio managed, retention rates achieved and specific stewardship strategies implemented • Sponsorship Success: Number and value of sponsorships secured, renewal rates if applicable, and examples of successful sponsor cultivation approaches • Relationship Building: Specific examples of donor relationships cultivated from prospect to committed supporter • Results-Oriented Approach: Metrics showing fundraising growth, donor engagement improvements, and partnership development outcomes
